Meditation

Meditation is a mental training practice that cultivates mindfulness, focus, and emotional calmness by directing attention to a specific object, thought, or activity like breathing. It is used to reduce stress, manage emotions, and increase self-awareness by breaking habitual patterns of distraction and negative thought. It involves observing thoughts without judgment and gently returning focus when the mind wanders.

Key Aspects of Meditation

  • Types: Common forms include mindfulness, guided, Transcendental Meditation (TM), and yoga.

  • Purpose: To achieve a mentally clear, emotionally calm, and stable state.

  • Method: Focusing on breath, a mantra, or visualization to ground oneself in the present moment.

  • The Process:

It is normal for the mind to wander; the practice involves noticing this and returning to the focus point, which acts as a "bicep curl" for the brain.
